The pianist Lydia Kessep was a Cuban immigrant living in Miami when she recorded this tribute to the great Cuban composer and pianist Ernesto Lecouna in the mid 1970's
They only perform live compositions that they improvise on-the-spot on stage and in the studio
XL Recordings release a unique reinterpretation of the album by acclaimed US jazz musician Makaya McCraven
you won't believe that there are at least seven instruments/voices all playing different lines yet somehow all working together in sublime harmony
The accumulation of low instruments could make us assume that Vivaldi would choose high tessituras for soloists
presenting the less easily identifiable works on this discographic rarity in his name therefore certainly does not do him a disservice
The album also features two original arrangements by Paulo Jobim and three pieces composed by him
